Seems like a devotional thought ...

And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD.

And, behold, the LORD passed by,

and a great and strong wind rent the mountains,

and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD;

but the LORD was not in the wind:

and after the wind an earthquake;

but the LORD was not in the earthquake:

And after the earthquake a fire;

but the LORD was not in the fire:

and after the fire a still small voice.

1 Kings 19:11-12

Christmas was and is unique. In the olden time - well, in childhood days - there were the exciting preparations and anticipations - but those could be duplicated at other times. There were the fluster and flurry of opening and distributing gifts, and the long cleanup - but those (especially the cleanup) could be duplicated at other times.

But in the last moments of Christmas Eve, we were together, we were at peace, we were focussed, and there was a mixture of awe and peace, of expectation and perfect safety, that I have rarely felt at any other time. Heavenly Peace.

May that Peace, Comfort, Joy come to you and abide with you.

Stille Nacht! Heilige Nacht!

Alles schläft; einsam wacht

Nur das traute heilige Paar.

Holder Knab im lockigten Haar,

Schlafe in himmlischer Ruh!

Schlafe in himmlischer Ruh!
