You'll find a few great Texans here, Quitosam. Hope to hear more from you.

Howdy Quitosam! Happy to have you among us.

Is the "Quito" part of your username perhaps a reference to Ecuador's capitol?

Howdy Quitosam and welcome to The Village from Houston.

I grew up in California. As part of my job, I had to travel to Houston about every six months. I found it always humid, rainy and uncomfortable. At one point, I told God, "I'm NEVER moving to Texas!". NEVER tell God what you are NOT going to do.

Now, I can't imagine living anywhere else. However, I imagine certain parts of Oregon closely match that of Houston.

Oh, Nathan! Say not so! I have sworn mighty oaths never to live in Florida and never again in Texas or California. If God made us live in all three.....!!!!!

Petros I truly understand, having lived in all three. I grew up in Florida, did three tours of duty in San Antonio, and retiring from March AFB near Riverside. But, we have happily lived and will remain in Las Vegas, Nevada where humidity is normally not an issue.

I tell people when growing up I thought the smell of mildew was normal. And the bugs (flies, including the biting kind, gnats, mosquitoes, etc are not an issue here.

Jim, I have never been more eaten up by mosquitoes and gnats than when hanging out along the banks of the Colorado River, not too far south of Las Vegas.

We get mosquitoes here in Houston, but they are large enough to hit with a fly swatter. But use a shot gun just to be sure. :P

I understand Nathan, due to the high humidity as opposed to the much drier air here in Las Vegas where double digit (teen) readings is high in terms of humidity. Were you by chance in Laughlin at the convergence of Arizona, California, and Nevada? Or just below Hoover Dam which forms Lake Mead outside Boulder City and on the Arizona/Nevada border?

A few years ago my wife and I visited friends living in Katy, outside Houston, before they moved to Las Vegas. While they lived right on a lake the weather was very pleasant in the evenings with low humidity and breeze which seemed to help keep the mosquitoes away.
