Obsession with naturism

Postby baldguyseattle » Mon Oct 13, 2008 12:32 am

Hey everybody! I hope you are all well. Anyway, the last 2 years, I have done some experimenting with non sexual naturism. Finally about 2 weeks ago, a friend and I went together and had a blast. I do hold to Biblical morals in that I believe that sex is for marriage, pornography is bad and that we shouldn't lust. But since the last visit, I have become more accepting of the fact that there can be public nudity in certain circumstances and that it is probably not a problem for the Lord. But as I have grown is this freedom, I feel I am becoming obsessed with the whole concept. Has anyone else experienced this? I don't feel led to give up naturism/nudity but that is not what I am all about. I want to be a balanced Christian. If God wanted me to give it up I would. But what is your experience in living a balanced Christian walk when it comes to this issue? Right now, it is just very exciting!

Hey seatleguy, I think it is just like any newfound and exciting hobby or activity for the first little while it can become almost obsessive to us. After a while it becomes less intensely attractive but still exciting just the same.
I have recently started overnight long-distance hiking and sometimes that is all that I want to do...
But I do appreciate that nudity is still a bit more attractive than that!
I too wonder if others find it, maybe, obsessive.

obsession

Postby codylechien » Mon Oct 13, 2008 6:00 am

Reading your post on being obsessed with naturism because it's new, I thought of how many times I've purchased a new (or used) car and spent more time with it (going into the garage to look at it; sitting in it to get the feel of it, driving it on a useless errand) just because it was something new. Something new is going to get more time and attention because it's.....new.

The definition of obsession, however, is "the domination of one's thoughts or feelings by a persistent idea, image, desire, etc". I'm going to suggest by the content of your post, you have concern about naturism and your relationship with God. If being nude was an obsession, I don't think you'd have a concern about the spiritual aspect of your life. But, you're thinking about naturism in a broader perspective than being nude, you've joined a Christian naturist site for fellowship, balance, sharing and growth so I don't think I'd worry about "obsession"

Now, if you burn your clothes, set up a 24/7 webcam broadcasting your nude life on YouTube and send nude pictures of you with a Santa hat in front of a Christmas tree as your Christmas card this year, THAT would be an obsession.

Otherwise welcome to the joy of being the person God designed you to be and identifying with the freedom of redemption in Jesus rather than the rebellion and self-centered failings of Adam.

baldguyseattle,

I would agree with Alfie. The whole concept of acceptable nudity is probably very new to you, and probably similar to when you first experienced the freedom in Christ, you are "on fire" for this newfound freedom.

As you practice out your new freedom, eventually it will become more of a second nature and will ACTUALLY begin to feel as natural as you have been wearing clothing all these years. So the excitement or charge of feeling the air touch your entire body or to be in the presence of other likewise free people will diminish.

So what you are going through is natural and to be expected.

Being nude has lost its excitement for me since I live nude most of the time in a nudist resort. It is, however, an obsession for me. I LOVE being nude and absolutely HATE wearing clothes of any kind--including sandals. I can dress and go to church where I sing solos and lead the singing, but when I get home the clothes come off. To me being nude is as natural as breathing.

That's why we need naturist Christian churches! :D

Yes, that would be great! There aren't enough Christians here in Gulf Coast Resort to have church services, and some I do know of that would be favorable to it have some strange beliefs. I'm afraid there would be too much conflict in what we would want taught. Of course, Christian nudists/naturists are in the minority.

Once you discover you nudity, you don't want to give it up. Every opportunity I get my clothes come off, because it just feels right and natural. That said this evening I am not feeling so well and the comfort of shorts and t-shirt is just what the body needs to maintain temperature.

If I wore clothes, I would feel even more miserable. Just say <img src="http://content.sweetim.com/sim/cpie/emoticons/0002011A.gif"> to clothes! <img src="http://content.sweetim.com/sim/cpie/emoticons/000201E4.gif">

How's that?

Jon-Marc,

It appears that you are having great fun with your newfound toy. However, this site does not recognize the HTML codes "<a>" or "</a>". If you want to make your posts look right, you will need to delete those characters from your post.
