Welcome cawat85. Lets see I accepted Christ as my Saviour 1975 at a baptist church we were attending at the time, I converted to Catholicism in 1984 then walked away after the scandal. Went back to a Baptist church with my wife here in the south, problems there. Tried a Lutheran church up the street, like it then their council voted to allow gays to be priest, have not been back. I would say that I am on my own but I'm not as Jesus is with me and he will guide me to the right church Amen!

Howdy Cawat and welcome to the Village, from Houston Texas

I was also raised a Catholic and attended Catholic school (for a while). However, after a few years of totally rejecting God and anything that had to do with God, I came back to faith through another denomination, the Southern Baptists.

Riddle: What is greater than God? More evil than the devil? The poor have it. The rich need it. If you eat it you will die.

I had to look it up, although I may have known the answer at one time...

Welcome cawat85!

I am not (and have never been) Catholic so there is a lot about the tradition I don't understand or know. On the other hand, I believe that if we are truly following God, it doesn't really matter what the tradition is that leads us there because, while the road is narrow that leads us to God, there are lots of paths that lead to that narrow road.

That said, I'd like to ask (and feel free not to answer), what is it about the Catholic tradition that you find draws you closer to God (and Jesus)?
So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus (Rom 8:1 NLT)

In church every Sunday we confess, "I believe in the holy catholic church", so we agree that there are things that bind us in Christ across denominational lines.
There are areas where Rome departed from the holy catholic church, where the Eastern Orthodox has as well and Protestant groups have not fully returned to the doctrine of the apostles, but I think progress toward that end is happening.

I have not abandoned corporate worship simply because of non-mortal error in doctrine.
We have to start somewhere, there is a lot of work to do, but we can't do it alone.
Let each group, Eastern, Roman and Protestant pursue excellence individually, but have a unity of purpose and heart in Christ Jesus.
