Randy the naturist?

Postby RMOlson » Tue Jun 13, 2017 12:48 pm

My parents were not naturist but they also were not ashamed of their bodies. When my brother and I would see them nude they wouldn't run and hide. They both reenforced the idea that the human body was magnificent. From an early age I enjoyed being nude even convincing my friends to stream through the house with me. I began sleeping nude sometime during puberty. As long as I can remember I loved skinny dipping and would do it often. At 16 I became a Christian, while not out right taught that nudity equaled sin it was implied. I began to hide my skinny dipping excursions and nude hikes, all the time trying to figure out what was wrong with me. Why would I keep doing this thing that so many beloved was wrong.
Over time I decided that I would share my desire with my wife, some family and some close friends with the understanding that if you don't want to see it don't look. My wife and kids tolerate my nudity. Not so long ago I began to seek out what the Father actually thinks about nudity. I have looked at scripture to find that it is really never condemned or encouraged in an of itself. So now I am seeking out like minded people to continue my understanding.
I know that nudity in childhood helped me, I am hoping that my freedom and love for being nude can help my wife with some of her childhood issues with nudity and that I can teach my children to be body positive.

It always amazes me how many Christians, who claim to follow the Bible in all things, do not really know what it says, and what it does not say, about nakedness. And how many will refuse to engage in study for fear they may have to change their views. Yet if our views don't line up with the Bible's, should we not be open to change?
You can live your life in fear--or you can live your life.

Hi Randy, thanks for sharing. We're a welcoming fellowship and don't mind discussing every angle of nakedness, nudity, naturism, or whatever you want to call it. Hope to hear more from you and your walk of faith.

Howdy and welcome, Randy! The positive body image that your parents instilled into you and your brother is what I want to instill into my future kids.

Just the fact the our Creator places our first grandparents in a garden nude is a great big plus, obviously indicating that is what our Creator wants for us, the perfect lifestyle. Then the second nude fact that He actually commanded Isaiah to go naked 3 years in public, is another very strong indication that nude has no sinful connotation to God and shouldn't to us. The connection with lust is a sin produced thought process we need to discard. Therefore I've come to believe that promoting naked living in non lustful environment is to fight sin and pornography. To fight against nudity in common life is to propagate the pornographic view of our Lord's grand creation. Terribly degrading ourselves. It's a terrible thing the devil has tricked us into. Thinking we need to hide our bodies from each other as if they were live pornography. Making God out to be a pornography monger just by having created us.

I read your profile where you wrote:
In my experience my desire to be nude is seen as a road block to ministry so I have kept it to my self and family.
I found it interesting to note the high percentage of people involved in the ministry that post here. Of course the name of the site alone is a likely cause of that. If you are in the ministry to any extent and you are a naturist, "Where else ya gonna post ???" Here you can be understood and appreciated on both points. It may be one of the safest places to post for you. But far more importantly I think it reflects your inclination to take the apostle Paul seriously about studying to show your self approved and rightly dividing the word of truth and rightly dividing the word of truth and the praise of the Bereans who searched the scripture to see if what they heard spoken was true to the scriptures. I.e. was it true exegesis and not Pharisaical eisegesis? Reading, studying, and discerning will get you in trouble every time with those who don't and those who have been catechized with error. And that is even aside from those who have been taught secular error such as the notion that men are so visual that they cannot help but lust at the exposure of too much female form. Welcome to you here, you will find acceptance here and direction to many like minded sources that that can help. Keep reading and ask as many questions as you have.
I never met anyone that I could not learn something from.

Over the years I have tested the waters of natursm with a wider circle. For instance about 20 years ago my wife and I were visiting her brother and his family. One evening the kids had gone to bed so the adults went out to the pool for a relaxing time in the pool. I believe my sis-in-law brought up skinny dipping and I admitted to doing it when ever possible. She and my brother-in-law said feel free. I did, at which point my sis-in-law tried to get her husband to disrobe as well. He wouldn’t neither would the women.

Ever since then he has told me I am not allowed to skinny dip in his pool, but now I tease him about it.
