Obviously a favorite at the station.
1lb lean ground beef
1 lg (28oz) can of your favorite bake beans (We like Bush's Original)
2 bell peppers chopped (I like to mix the colors up)
1 med onion chopped
dark brown sugar
your favorite BBQ sauce ( I like Sweet Baby Rays)
Hot sauce and or hot peppers optional. Add to taste.
In a lg skillet sauté the bell peppers and onions until they begin to caramelize then add the ground beef. While the beef is browning pour the beans in a baking dish then add the brown sugar and BBQ sauce. We don't use a specific measurement just add as much as you like at that moment (It taste slightly different each time we make it)
When the beef has browned add the remaining ingredients, mix well then bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
When we make it at the station we double the recipe and its enough 10 men (We can eat a lot!)
It's pretty much a meal in itself. Enjoy!
