What a loss, such a beautiful old building. Yes, hopefully, the springs will remain open and the lodge will be rebuilt with modern safety standards but a rustic look. No, I've never been there.

"The main lodge destroyed by the Saturday fire had been built in 1915". Wow. That's sad. The article also mentions it may not have been insured. Ouch.
I lived in Ukiah for ten years. Never made it to Wilbur Hot Springs, but I have been to Orr Hot Springs a couple times.

Do you know if the building was completely destroyed or severely damaged?

Nateman - I assume from the picture I posted in the Photo Gallery that it was. They are looking for donations and volunteers to start the rebuilding process - and I don't think the C/O aspect is going to change.

From their web site.
"The natural hot waters in the flumes are enhanced by a spring-fed swimming pool, an outdoor hot mineral flume and a dry sauna. Splendid vistas of the surrounding hills surround the expansive deck, which connects all of the hot spring areas. Listen to the birds and the nearby creek, read a book, or just kick back and relax—there is no schedule. Night time offers breathtaking views of our renowned starry skies. Come for the day or stay as long as you like. Open day and night to registered guests, our hot springs are quiet and serene—a safe haven where courtesy and modesty prevail. The bathing area is private and clothing optional (although clothing is required everywhere else on the property). Plus, you’ll never hear a cell phone ring. It is a natural digital detox."
I assume that means you will only see people from your own party naked.

Their facility is rather large and the clothing optional portion is somewhat limited, only inside the fence around the various tubs and pools. As far as cell phone, they don't work that far away from a cell site. They have line-line telephone service for their own use; their expectations are that you are here to get away from technology, have time on your hands, and just want to relax.
