Slandering Naturism

Postby Bare_Truth » Fri Jan 29, 2016 12:19 pm

While browsing on YouTube, I came across an example of how naturism gets slandered.
I came across the page:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yf73337TJDo which is a video titled:
Educating Julie Full Erotic Movie English 1984
I was puzzled as I had once before seen this video on You Tube, or at least I though so, Only this time the title included the words FULL EROTiC MOVIE And Now it was demanded that I should register and state my age before I would be allowed to see it. Having seen it before, or at least thinking it was the same movie I wondered.

At this point I must explain that I register on as few sites as possible as part of a suspicion that a lot of sites want to mine data about me and sell it to persons or organizations I would not trust with it. and so I was in a quandry about how I could check to see if this was the same movie I remembered about naturism and how a shy young woman comes to understand the wholesomeness of naturism. But then I remembered that I had something that might work. I posess a copy of youtube-dl, which is a terminal mode based utility which will transfer a youtube video into an mp4 video saved on your computer. And thinking it worth a try I gave it a shot.

The command line looks like this:
Selection_001.jpg

The url is just pasted right after the name of the utility being separated by a space. And then through the magic of the digital age in about 16 minutes (actually less I think as 16 was a first estimate by the utility) the entire 1 hour and 40 minute movie is deposited on the hard drive for playing at your convenience. And this has bypassed the log in requirement of You Tube.

I then reviewed the movie and found that it was the same chaste, no-sex version that I had seen before.

So if memory serves me right the new words "Full Erotic Movie" have been added, thereby slandering the nature of the naturist movement.

If one takes time to read the comments of those who logged in on You-Tube in order to view the movie, It appears that some of them also objected to the "False Advertising Lie" about the movie, though I suspect for different reasons than my objection.

For example the opening comment was
For example the opening commenter wrote:As erotic as a condom full of porridge. Might appeal to 13 year-olds.
But of course there were comments by naturists as well as comments reflecting disappointment.

So while I was offended by someone throwing the word "EROTIC" into the You Tube title, I was appreciative that I found a work around to the registration imposition. What is more interesting is the speed with which youtube-dl got the whole movie about 6 time faster than I could play it on youtube and as an MP4 I can scroll through it quickly and easily for review and analysis of content. I really like that utility.

As some of you know I operate with a Linux operating system (currently the Linux Mint distribution) and I do not know if you would need a different program or different version of youtube-dl to operate on Microsoft operating systems version of command line utility (which I think they call console or something like that). I have heard that You-Tube is not totally pleased with the existence of youtube-dl, but hey, that is life!

Go Linux! I use Ubuntu on my secondary computer. I wonder if youtube-dl works on OS X as it's a UNIX system?

One other way I learned to bypass YouTube content restrictions without registering is to simply modify the URL in the browser. If you look at the link to "Educating Julie" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yf73337TJDo ), you'll notice that immediately after the .com there is this bit: watch?v=. If you delete "watch?" and replace the = with a / you can watch the video on YouTube without downloading it. That makes the modified link https://www.youtube.com/v/yf73337TJDo

The only problem I've had recently is that Firefox wants to download a file instead of playing the video. It has worked fine for me in the past, however, so I'll have to figure out what's wrong and report back.

Cute. The same technique applied to the equally login Diary of a Nudist when right in.

Gotta love programmers.

What is this "Diary of a Nudist" thing of which you speak I did not find such on You Tube but it sounds interesting.

The youtube-dl I downloaded is supposed to be generic to all linux when using the command line "terminal" mode. What else it works on I do not know, As for the target video, I have tired it on Vimeo and no luck. So far as i know it only works on Youtube videos and probably only those for which the Youtube page URL is known and not likely on those embeded in other web pages however "results may vary" I some times use it for getting videos, especially large ones on occasions when the internet is slow The 100 minute video reported that it would take 16 minutes to down load but the number is frequently revised and I think it only took 10 minutes which makes this one 10 times faster on a day when the internet was working smoothly here. And of course on days when the internet suffers multiple interruptions once you have the MP4 file you can run it without interruptions. and attach it to e-mails or archive it for later use.

Don't know how you missed it, unless your typing is worse than nine - at least sometimes.

Once I saw the start of the video, I realized that I had seen the first part of it before, I watched it to the end and found a few points to critique. In spite of all the characters in it they somehow managed to avoid any full frontal views or pubic hair. However since it was in a climate with lots of palm trees and the summer skies and vegetation that appeared to be full summer growth, I was rather surprised at the number of cotton tails and lots of untanned breasts. There were a very few full tans, so I would assume that there were at least a few real nudists in the cast. However, in spite of all the number of people who entered the various scenes, many carrying towels (which I assume were intended for deployment to prevent the previously noted full frontal shielding, others than those laying on the grass or cushions, I did not notice anyone deploying their towel to sit on. Is that a custom that only came into vogue after 1961. I can understand the full frontal nudity blocking as being something intended to allow a wider audience to see it legally. The sound in the latter part of the video was weak and the plot was transparent and predictable but then I suppose that this was a movie to proselytize rather than scandalize. The production date of 1961 means that I would have been a sophomore in high school or between my sophomore & junior years. The hair do's and cars really date the whole thing that VW Beetle could not have been any newer than a VW1200cc judging by the bumper and wolfsburg crest.

I wonder how a promotional movie with the same intent would look if done today.

For anyone interested, youtube-dl is available as a free download from https://rg3.github.io/youtube-dl/

The site says it works on Windows, OS X, and Linux but requires Python (https://www.python.org/) to work correctly. I installed Python 3 and then youtube-dl from Terminal. Works great. I wonder if it came preinstalled on Mint, Bare_Truth?

No, Mint did not come with it. But now that you got it if you have any interest in shooting sports you can use it to download any gunsmithing videos because I learned a month or so ago that the current administration is trying to work on an international treaty that will ban the dissemination of firearms information as part of the international trade in arms treaty concept.

What would be really handy is if there was a similar video capture program that was not just YouTube specific.

For OS/X, I use the Homebrew package manager which has youtube-dl as one of the packages. It takes care of dependencies.

Good point, and I think I will do that. You can also use a VPN to "be" in another country without restrictions on videos.

From what I read on its website, youtube-dl works for a lot of other sites too, like Vimeo and Dailymotion. I haven't tried it though.

EDIT: BBCode isn't working for me for some reason.
