Eppur si muove

Postby Petros » Sun May 28, 2017 7:26 am

In high gear here - it looks as if likely we will close on the 23rd [give or take]. But actually moving out will be on the 16th. Initially to use half of Number 1 Son's newly acquired place while we hunt for the ideal spot for us. That has its own issuers, of course.

But it means time pressure and financial issues as we move into high gear. There has been a lot of opposition - which in a way is reassuring. Somehow it will happen

Perhaps you could elaborate on what sort of place you would like to settle. Do you have any criteria or lists of "must haves", and lists of "would like to haves" and List of "it woiuld be great if it hads" Some of us might have useful information.

There is a list of sorts, though it is flexible and the RIGHT place, knoewn when we see it, may not meet the criteria.

In or around Iron River or Crystal Falls
Little or no repair / restructuring required
Space enough to provide two areas for undisturbed work/prayer/refreshment
Yard space for the dogs
2-car garage
Clear road to town certain even on a snow day
enough land and / or fence or treeline to provide a bit of neighbour barrier
cheap enough to afford if in fact the largest part of our income disappears
No wood panelled walls.

Those specificatins will do for now. We have been maintaining a list of possibles which we will be reviewing and culling.

We have now contracted to be moved out in a bit more than two weeks - a week before closing which we trust will be timely. Which means we have to get the things we still have not packed consolidated, and dig up the cash tto may them before the closing. Herself and Number 1 Son have been up there today dropping a load and checking for problems.

We have had the appraiser through for the buyer''s loan; two inspections to go.

May they go well.

A week to the big move, everyone nearing limits. Herself and Number 1 Son along with Nice Niece Liesl are up in the target house painting and lugging a load which may shave the moving dollar cost. While they are away I am getting nude time in - a plus. Inspections are over, nothing critical.

But Oh! for a rest from all thios!

Moving hint:
The last thing to pack if you are loading a trailer or van bodied truck is an extension cord and a fan or fans. Unless of course it is winter and then maybe it would be a space heater instead of a fan.

We have a large carton full of cords, and the former owner of the hideout is a GOOD electrician = access to current is easy. And two fans we do not need here went up with and were used buy the painting party.

Looking at next wels forecast, I do nor believe it is winter just now. But we have a decent space heater.
