I agree. Unfortunately, "nudist" is not clear enough and has been associated with the seedier side of being without clothing (porn and other sexual immoralities).

To me, the word "naturist" more appropriately defines me in that I believe that God designed all "nature" and that He designed it to work in a particular "natural" way. Like all other creatures, humans were DESIGNED to exist without clothing. In fact, our bodies perform BEST without clothing, allowing our skin to breath and to be exposed to natural sunlight, producing necessary levels of Vitamin-D. Unfortunately, due to the Fall (sin), there are times when we need protection from the elements and one of the easiest ways to accomplish that is through some form of "clothing". However, the use of clothing should be minimized as clothing and the processing of clothing is harmful for the environment (nature).

Nathan, I agree.
As much as possible, I choose to live as the Creator designed, including letting the body do its job, unhindered by fabric or shoe leather.
Clothes are a tool to use on a contingency-basis, then removed, carefully washed and folded, set aside for the next bout of severe weather or thorny path.
Or places where the social climate would lead to arrest or an angry mob, but arrest and angry mobs are not part of our Creator's original design either!

I am not fully opposed to the word "nudist", I have used it when introducing the concept to the clueless, but I quickly put it in the context of naturism, living as the Grand Designer intended.

Although some folks confuse naturalism with naturism, the two concepts are not diametrically opposed.
I enjoy exploring God's natural world and studying it in a systematic manner, so I am also a naturalist.
But I find that the enjoyment of naturalism is best conducted in the garb of a naturist: skin completely free from the sensory deprivation of clothing.

On a local scale, I also enjoy naked gardening for easy cleanup, comfort, freedom of motion and full immersion in the natural world of my back yard!

I NEVER use the word "nudist" when describing my attitude toward clothing and the lack of need thereof.

I find it confuses people all the more. Instead, I ALWAYS begin with the Genesis account with a focus on God's design, His proclamation, His intent and His grace.

Nudist has been used as a keyword by thugs on the Internet to entice prurient interest, but at the AANR resorts and camps I have visited, it means nothing of the kind.
But "naturist" has always appealed to me better.
And ironically, although I vastly prefer the naturist term, I don't like the Naturist Society for their decision to push a left-wing social agenda.
I am a moderate, neither right nor left and I don't want to be pushed into either camp.
I don't always agree with moderates, either!
And sometimes I disagree with myself.
