Our neighbors in Oklahoma would probably chalk it up to cow manure...

But hey, we're the better state anyway, so we can take a few jabs from the Okies.

But if you're genuinely curious, I'm thinking a lot of it has to do population. Texas is second only to California by number of residents (27.7 million to 37.7 million). Statistically speaking, there will be more naturists in states like Texas and California than there will be in, say, Rhode Island.
And when you drill down even further into naturist
Christians, you narrow the possibilities even further. Texas, in contrast to California, forms a big part of the Bible belt. A quick glance at Wikipedia tells me that approximately 77% of our great state's citizens are Christian.
Thus, you have approximately 21.3 million Christians in Texas. And, if you consider that maybe only 0.01% of those Christians are naturists, that gives you...
2,130 Christian naturists in the Lone Star State. So, anyway... that's how I explain it.
And as Warren noted, the heat does help. An index of 108 F does make one want to skinny-dip!
